Welcome!

Welcome to KN6VWD.qso.com

I have been a ham since 1998, originally licensed as KF6STA. I got my technician class license in middle school, missing the Morse Code test by 1 point.

My license expired a few years ago, but I have recently become interested in packet radio and satellite communications, so I got my general class license as KN6VWD, and I am now studying for the extra class license exam.

For more information about me, check out my personal page at LeifAmes.com.

This site is very much a work in progress, so check back later for more updates.

RTL-SDR

I just picked up an RTL-SDR Blog v3 USB radio dongle, and it is quite cool! I have been using Gqrx on Linux, and I am hoping to get started with GNU Radio soon. I am also very tempted by the SDRplay offerings, as I hear they work very well on the HF bands, but I am focusing primarily on VHF/UHF for now.

Special thanks to superkuh for giving me some pointers and advice.
