Environment Management
There is a large movement to save the environment, and it is generally referred to with the code word “Green”. On the surface it sounds like a good thing, but let us examine the facts. I will start by talking about the Electric Automobile.
We are told burning fossil fuel is a bad thing. Using oil, which is theoretically an irreplaceable fossil fuel (we are not actually sure about that) is bad because it puts carbon into the air. Never mind, and generally not known, is petroleum is the source of most of our chemicals and things like asphalt that paves our roads. Even medical products, and everything made from plastic, come from oil. Gas prices are being forced up (Political) and we are told we should get electric cars that do not burn fossil fuel…. Or do they? The batteries must be charged and the electricity comes from the power grid, which is supplied by generating stations. These stations burn oil, or natural gas, or maybe are nuclear powered. Now the power stations generate the pollution. Nuclear waste is worse than any pollution any vehicle could produce. Solar Power and Wind Power help, but barely make a dent in the demand. The only effective clean energy comes from hydro-electric sources but again there is not enough dams and water to supply the need. Another problem with the electric vehicle is they use batteries which require heavy mining to get the raw material to make the batteries. The environmentalist want to shut down the mines! The batteries cannot be made without the products of mining.
I should also mention that large Solar power generation facilities disrupt a lot of ground that is then cast in shadow, and it has been documented if there are enough wind generators sucking energy out of the wind, these affect the weather and upset normal patterns. As I said, nothing is free, there is no such thing as free. For every cause there is an effect.
Nothing is free, we cannot have something without paying a price. It is impossible, but the environmentalist will not be happy until we are all back on farms using horses instead of machines, then they can complain about greenhouse gases that the animals give off.
These same people do not believe in God, but they worship “Mother Nature”. They feel they are saving the Earth, but while I agree we need to be responsible, I ask what we are saving the Earth for? If man was gone completely and the Earth returned to some virgin state, so what? Who would know or care. There would be no purpose for a perfect Earth without human population.
What is the difference between not having or not using natural resources? Either way we do without. If natural resources are saved, what are they being saved for?
The only way to get rid of pollution is to not create it, or recycle it. Most efforts are trying to stop pollution, but the problem is we don’t get rid of it, we just put it somewhere else. Wash carbon out of the smoke from a smokestack and the carbon no longer goes in the air, now it goes into the water. It seems beyond reason but most of the world does little to no recycling. We are even not so great in the USA as not all trash services recycle. My trash service will… if I pay an additional fee to pay them to pick it up, and for all I know they may still dump it in a landfill.
You want to get rid of oil? Look around you, everything with plastic goes away, roads have no asphalt, almost everything depends on oil, no chemicals to do anything like stabilize our food and other products, no cleaners, no lubricants. It is not just vehicles, the entire world is dependent on oil. Oil components are used in almost everything we use.
The best thing we can do is RECYCLE everything possible. We as humans are part of the ecosystem and we need to keep from throwing the system off balance but the system has a way to keep itself in balance.
One thing that gets lost is the fact there is no such thing as “Mother Nature”. What is called Mother Nature is really the handy-work of God and God created the Earth for Mankind. Man cannot live without the Earth and without man, there would be no purpose in the Earth. Without God there is no purpose for anything. With God, it all makes sense but I know those who do not believe in God, to them all of this is meaningless. They ignore God and worship at the altar of Mother Nature.
If the population dramatically decreased and we all went back to farming, using animal and water power, no more machines, no Internet (GASP!), no electricity, no medicine, it would be a hard life and who would be better off? Who would benefit? Lifespans would be cut in half.
It is our nature to explore, to build better, to invent, and once something is invented, it cannot be ‘UN-invented’. There is always good and evil and there will always be wars and power crazed leaders. The nature of humanity cannot change.
Electric cars buy us nothing they just shift the pollution to somewhere else. If we stop producing oil and close the mines, all this does is force us to buy the needed raw material from somewhere else. If every roof was covered with Solar panels that could help some but I wonder how much energy it takes to produce a Solar panel? It all comes back to there is no such thing as free, everything comes with a price that must be paid.
As an aside, how many people know that when you get the normal Solar panels they do not feed your home, they feed power into the power grid and if power goes down, so does your home. One ‘can’ get a system that charges batteries and your home runs off of the batteries however these batteries are hugely expensive and then can only run the house for maybe eight hours, if the air conditioner is on. Since this system would reduce your power bill to zero you would think it would quickly pay for itself, but as I said, the batteries are very very expensive and would have to be replaced on a regular schedule. On cloudy days this house would have to use commercial power as the Solar panels would not produce the power needed to run the home. Nothing is free. The cheapest and most reliable electric power you can get, is commercial power off of the power grid.
Beware! The biggest threat to the environment is the worlds unstoppable population growth. Expect ‘something’ to happen that will dramatically reduce world population. COVID was just a dry run.
In the Bible book of Revelation it tells of a “burning mountain” (Asteroid) hitting in the ocean and killing 1/3 of the population, and it also talks about huge Earthquakes. I wonder how many will die when “the big one” hits California, as we know it will? If you feel safe and secure, you just don’t understand the reality.
I close with this; if there is no God, it does not matter, but if God exist, nothing else matters.
Two betting men: One bets on God. If right he gains eternity, if wrong he loses nothing. The other bets there is no God. If he is right he gains nothing, if he is wrong, he loses everything. Place your bet!
